Spring Planning Paddle and Potluck

The Sea Kayaking Spring Planning Paddle and Potluck will be held on Saturday, May 2nd as follows:

A level 3 paddle will be from 10:30 am (launch) to 2 pm from Gooseberry Island, Westport, MA.

Depending on conditions and interest, a separate level II paddle may be held. That paddle will either launch from Gooseberry Island or from the Westport River Public Boat Ramp, depending on conditions. Note: there is a launch fee at the boat ramp.

Notes: Please RSVP by replying to this post and advise whether you prefer a level 2 or 3+ paddle.

The potluck will follow (nominally 3:30 pm) at Jon Sharlin's NEW house, 942 Drift Road, Westport, MA 02790. [Don't go to his old address from prior years on the same road.]

If anyone is interested there is a WFA course being offered by Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network - Feb 27, 28, March 1st. Very reasonable price and includes CPR. I plan on doing it. Message me for more details

East Branch, Westport River House Rental

A friend of mine has offered a great paddlers vacation house rental .
It has a beautiful view of the river with kayak access . The mouth of the river is only
one and half miles from the put in with opportunities for flat water paddling on the river or
sea kayaking outside the mouth. The house has two bedrooms and full kitchen and amenities .

I happened upon this article and found it interesting. It also looks at the history of kayak development - I am sure most people are familiar with the evolution of the boats (Cetus, Explorer, Romany), we paddle but I found interesting.

This is the longest video I have done so far with my new camera, and I ran into a problem. I couldn't utilize all the features of the camera because my computer couldn't handle 4K resolution, 60 fps, image stabilization, and a longer video all at once, so I had to compromise. If I get a new computer some day, I'll get one that has enough RAM to accommodate my camera to its full potential.
