Level 2 paddle on 12/03/2024 (this Tuesday)

There will be a Level 2 paddle on Tuesday, 11/03/2024, Launch at Sandy Point in Portsmouth.

                 SUMMARY:
 
              * Level 2, except for up to 10 miles distance
              * Tuesday, 03 DEC 2024
              * 10:45AM Launch
              * Launching from Sandy Point, Portsmouth
              * GPS Address: 635 Sandy Point Ave., Portsmouth, R.I.

     Most likely we will paddle down to Third Beach. NOAA predicts winds at 5-10 kts from the NW. Air temperature will be about 40 degrees, but sunny the whole day. I suggest arriving at the launch mostly already dressed to maintain warmth. The late launch time is to avoid the colder earlier morning temperatures.

Hi Tony.  Did anyone paddle this? ..looking forward to your video

     No one showed up, so I did a solo paddle for the exercise. When I am paddling alone in cold weather, I increase the safety factor. From Sandy Point, I went north rather than south (the course south has many areas where, in an emergency, landing may be difficult (eg. a cliff), whereas north of Sandy Point, there are many possible exit points). When I am alone, I don't do a video unless the course is particularly interesting or new to me. Also, the wind was with me on the return trip, not that it was very windy, but it's nice to have a little push on the way back. I'll be posting more trips during this cold season, but I think I'll limit it to 50-degree + weather, and winds no more than 5-10 kts.
