Any interest in a paddle on Sunday 01 OCTOBER ?
« on: September 27, 2017, 01:27:58 PM »

I was thinking of launching from a site I discovered a while back. It is in Somerset, MA, near the Braga Bridge. It has a paved public parking lot with a couple dozen places, and is free all year long...I believe it is a Massachusetts Public Access site. Very easy water access. To see it on Google Maps, put in the following address on the Google Maps Search box:
                                                                       5 Massasoit St., Somerset, MA
Anyhow, the paddle itself would include Battleship Cove, plus some other paddling, maybe up the Taunton or Lee or Cole rivers. Let me know if you are interested.

Hey Tony !!
I can't make it Sunday, working again
Damn it. But I am responding for Donna Abjornson
And Becky Settje.  You're probably paddled with at least one or both of them before, I think Donna was with us the last time we did Newport Harbor and  the crossing to James town. Anyway for some reason they're unable to  respond to you on the posting board so I'm doing it  for them. I'm hoping that we can get together and do a Monday paddle or any day,  before the end of the season, been a bad year for me. Oh sorry Tony, I forgot, for you there is no end of the season ha ha. I'll send you an email  with their  email addresses in case you need to contact them. Wish I could make it, hope to see you soon Ric

Becky and Donna are interested in the Sunday paddle from beneath the Braga Bridge. What time is the put in?

I'd love to paddle with you, but can't this weekend.

TRIP DETAILS:   Launch in Somerset. MA. If you have a GPS, use 5 Massasoit St. Somerset MA as an address.
                        Launch Time: 10:30AM
                        Level 2-3
Route: Definitely Battleship Cove, plus another as-yet undecided area (maybe the Cole, Lee, or Taunton rivers)
If you have any questions, e-mail me at:    tsunamikayak@juno.com

Tony, I would like to come — will come if the trip's on. If the tide and winds are favorable, consider putting in further up the Taunton River and exploring the highly navigable upper portion.

Hi John,
Unless the marine forecast changes radically, the trip is on. Thanks for suggesting a Taunton River launch site, but as the coordinator of the trip, I don't feel comfortable launching from a place I have never been to. Also, there are people planning on going that I already sent e-mails to with the GPS coordinates. We will be heading first to Battleship Cove, then some other area as yet undecided. Hope you can make it!
