This will be a calmer venue, more appropriate for a relaxed paddle where the group can stay closer together to enjoy the night sky. Please bring boat lights appropriate for a kayak; a simple white light strapped to the deck will suffice. No need for navigational lights (red/green) or any high power lights or head lamps. The goal is to make the kayaks relatively visible from a distance in the twilight and darkness, not to blind boaters or fellow kayakers. Glow sticks are also fine, and can be attached to the back or shoulders of the PFD.
The forecast is for low winds and clear skies in the evening. Bring a hearty snack -or full dinner if you feel the need- and water or your beverage of choice. Bug spray may be advisable for after landing, as the mosquitoes can be a nuisance while we upload our kayaks and gear.
This remains a level 3 paddle. We will be launching at 7PM, and will get to see both the sun set and the moon rise, and perhaps even a few satellites and meteors. See you on the water !
