29Dec2013 Paddle
« on: December 27, 2013, 12:08:04 PM »

Anyone interested in paddling this Sunday? Temperature should be low to mid 40's, winds 5-10 kts with occasional higher gusts. I was thinking Third Beach launch again, since you can go north or south from there, depending on the conditions. The last 2 times I was off Sachuest, I sighted a snowy owl, on the same rock both times...it may still be there. I'm open to other launch sites, too.

P.S.   a very short slide show of the snowy owl I photographed:              www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lbGkwHzTrY

It's tempting. I have a new boat I haven't gotten wet yet.
On the other hand I am not really paddling fit - so I wouldn't be up for anything too strenuous.

Yes, what boat did you get? As far as the paddle, I wasn't anticipating anything over a Level 3, and of course, there will always be consideration for everyone's situation. For example, we could head north, and be in milder conditions, with a nice coastline and easy rock formations. When we return to Third Beach, we can end the trip, or if some want more action, those people  can continue on, heading south to the more challenging rock gardens at Sachuest Point...it's all very flexible, and will depend on exactly who shows up.

P.S. The marine forcast for R.I. Sound for Sunday is milder than before, with winds of only 10 kts.

I picked it up in Maine - Kittery Trading post- Fibreglass version of my old boat.
I'll see how I'm doing in the morning - what time are you putting on the water?

Can't decide between 10am and 11am, so I'll make it 10:30am, at the Third Beach Parking Lot / Boat Ramp.

I'm not going to make it.
I was kind of driven by it being a last chance to paddle in 2013 but I just got home and don't see myself leaping out of bed in the morning.
