Blue Friday?
« on: November 19, 2012, 06:51:33 PM »

As it turns out, I am not available to paddle on Sunday. So for those of you that are around, but are not into "Black Friday" shopping, here's an alternative:

Friday, 23 November. 10am at the south end of Scarborough Beach. We'll put in and go south or north as the group decides.

Long range forecast: Sunny, 55 degrees. Tide won't be much of a factor.

Regards, Rich C.

Level 3. I expect this trip to be 10-11 miles long. The forecast is for a high of 55 degrees, variable winds 5 kt or less and sunny. But it is open water and the water temperature is about 50 degrees. Even a light breeze can be quite chilling. You should wear suitable clothing  (a dry suit with lightweight under-layer or or a wet suit and bring a wind top).

Pretty quiet out there. I am open to ideas if anyone want to suggest a different venue.

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Rich, I'm in for paddling tomorrow.  With swell period into double digits, hopefully we will still have suitable conditions for launching our group at the beach.

Donna - I'll look forward to you joining us when you are ready. If you are considering a particular boat you might want to ask about it on the discussion page and see what other members have to say. We generally start with some shorter paddles in the spring, and in June hold a paddle skills rescue practice session. That's a good way to prepare for the season.

Tim - See you at Scarborough Beach tomorrow morning.
