When beholding the tranquil beauty and brilliancy of the ocean's skin, one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it; and would not willingly remember that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang. - Herman Melville

Vineyard sound surfing 9/23
« on: September 20, 2012, 01:50:11 PM »

Cat Radcliffe and I are taking advantage of the forecast SW afternoon blow on Sunday 9/23 to paddle from Woods Hole to Robinson's Hole in hopes of a nice surfing run back down the sound when the forecast SW seabreeze picks up.  We'll leave from Woods Hole sometime around 10.  The trip from Woods Hole to Robinson's Hole is a circumnavigation of Naushon island (if we go up on the Buzzards bay side), and is ~16 nautical miles.
We'd love to have a few RICKA regulars along on this trip. Please RSVP if you are planning to come along.

If winds are >15 kts in the morning our fallback is to surf Nobska point. Current there will be opposing the wind until noon, creating worthwhile standing waves. :)
