When beholding the tranquil beauty and brilliancy of the ocean's skin, one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it; and would not willingly remember that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang. - Herman Melville

Sakonnet 8/5
« on: July 31, 2012, 01:52:27 PM »

What is the flexibility on dates for the Sakonnet trip on Sunday 8/5?  I realize this is New England and the forecast could totally change between now & then, but right now the weather looks a whole lot better for paddling on Saturday 8/4: wind 7-10 kt, mostly sunny, whereas Sunday 8/5 is showing winds 10-14 kt with thunderstorms in the morning.

Just curious.  :D

Sunday is the paddle as listed Cat for a variety of reasons. Hope you can make it.

Cat, I agree with you about the iffy weather forecast for Sunday. I'd be willing to paddle on Saturday. Just say where and when.  :-\

Sunday will be a most excellent day on the water, as they all are!

Tim, I'd like to share your optimism and enthusiasm, but some of us simply don't share your skill level on the water.  :(

It has nothing to do with skill but being in the moment on the water.

...or in the water at that moment.

It's all good, we just get back in the boat.

Sorry, my intent was not to pull people away from the Sakonnet trip, and I apologize if I gave that impression.  Probably I should've explained that I was trying to plan my weekend; if a bad weather date was being considered, I would block out Saturday as well as Sunday.

However, as expected, the forecast has changed (the one thing we always know about New England weather forecasts), and Sunday looks great!  See you there!  (I believe this will be my first RICKA trip this summer; can't wait!)   ;D

You can rarely trust the weather forecasts, so I'll paddle Sunday, too, and rely on Tim and Bob to help me get right-side up in case I become upside down.  :P
