Wow - We have three trips called for Saturday!  Tim's circumcision of Jamestown trip, Rich's Pier 5 trip, and Cat's Third Beach trip (Sat or Sun). Something for everybody!

Carole, I think you meant circumnavigation of Jamestown... Otherwise, I only got the punch line to a joke...

Jamestown circumnavigation?! I thought Tim was planning URI BC to Whale Rock to Castle Hill and back, or has that changed?!  :o

I'm not changing Tim's trip/route, only commenting on Carole's post.

Sorry I was confusing. I needed a name for TIm's trip and it seemed to closely resemble a backward (yes) circumcision of Jamestown since it's from the Bay Campus around Beavertail, and eventually down to Mackeral Cove (where I assumed we would portage over the road) and go back to the Bay Campus from there. Now of course we all know what happens when we assume - so maybe Tim meant that we'd return by way of Beavertail to go back to the Bay Campus.

Tim, could you clarify before I confuse anyone else? Thanks!

You interpreted correctly, we will indeed be portaging across the road after a lunch stop at the beach.

Hey Tim,

I've heard that people didn't see your paddle announcement (it was in "General Discussion"). Could you make an official post here in "Show and Go" so people know day, time, and place? I expect we'll see your reply soon because I know you're checking the message board at work.   ;D

Okay - I've received another message asking me to look up the word "circumcision."  So here you are, "The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and c├Ždere (meaning "to cut")."  For RICKA and ConnYak paddlers, this is the word we call the paddle that does not circumnavigate the whole island of Jamestown but the paddle that cuts around the Beavertail end of the island. We call it the "circumcision" because we think it's funny.

So what happened to Cat's Third Beach Paddle, which was a possible Sunday trip ?  Is that a no go ?
