I recently set up a photo gallery on this site. However, if I am using any computer but my home computer (on which I am automatically logged in for RICKA) I cannot see my Gallery. In other words, as long as RICKA thinks I'm a "Guest", the Gallery doesn't show. As soon as I log in, it is there. I surmize that other "Guests" also can't see my gallery, and only logged-in members can. I know it is possible to program this so that guests, too, can see my gallery (since I can see others' galleries as a guest), but so far, I haven't figured out how to accomplish this. I have tried, working through the "Permissions" tab (as this seems to be the most appropriate), but have so far been unable to make the required change. Any advice?

There is an obtuse way to make this work, but I cannot remember the exact set of arcane steps to make it work. I think you need to make the photo gallery - the very top level one - visible to the public. I'll poke around a bit and try to uncover the exact steps...

I'm logged in, and if there is a new gallery from Tony, I can't see it.

My gallery is visible to anyone now, thanks to Eric's expert help!

I just put up some photos to see how the Galleries section works.  One word taken from a Seinfeld episode --- Breathtaking!!  Yes I had to set the permissions to get a guest to view.  But the whole process is really complicated.  I can't even get people (the common folk, not the nerds) to understand uploading photos/folders via FTP to the AMC website, even with a simple drag and drop method.  Which brings up on this site gallery, how do I tag a whole bunch of photos, or a folder, to upload?

I see that several kayakers are using the www.smugmug.com photo site, but I still find the "do it yourself" simple photo pages easiest to navigate and view.  But then you still have to "do it yourself".  Everything is getting so complicated, what happened to when you only needed a Brownie camera and chemicals to get pictures?

Or back even further (the "Flintstone" era), when all you needed was a cave-squirrel with a slab of slate and a chisel !!!

I just went back to look at my photo album and I only see the thumbnail photos.  It was working before.  Darn technology,  now I have to figure out what went wrong.  Folks...,  I think you will continue seeing my photos on the "...photos by Mike K." page, where I can control things.  I do have a Brownie camera, but no chemicals.

Solved.  I could see the large photos when logged in, but only thumbnails as guest.  Had to go into edit album and set "[core]View all Versions" to Everybody.  Is this complicated or what?

Speaking of complicated, checked the popup windows on the "..photos by Mike K." site.  Checked in Firefox 3.6, Safari 5, IE 6, IE 8, Chrome 5, and Opera 10.6.  The popups work differently in all, the worst being Chrome, others behave somewhat better.  Only Opera behaves as coded.  Opera has only 1.5% of the browsers, and sea kayakers probably have less than 1.5% of the boaters.  But I know good things when I see them.
