Hi Folks,

Let's plan on two dates - Saturday, January 25 and February 22, 1:00-4:00 pm.  At the Kingston Free Library, 2605 Kingstown Road, Kingston, RI 02881. We'll use the upstairs meeting room.

Bring a base plate/orienteering compass, and any other navigation tools you might have.  A chart or two...

Hi Eric,

Just wondering if there is any way to create an archive on the website of all the great photos that Jon and others have taken and posted. It would be great to be able to have access to them after they come off the home page.

With appreciation for your faithful service! :-)

Hi Tim,
Bethany and I are definitely interested if we are in town. It sounds like a great use of some winter weekend days.

One idea I'll throw out -- perhaps for the second day -- is to use some likely touring destinations to do some route planning exercises. Folks could bring charts from spots they've been (or want to go) -- and it could be a chance for people to learn about some different areas with different local factors to take into account when planning.

Hi Folks,

Would folks be interested in a couple of navigation workshops this winter?  These typically run for three hours on a Saturday afternoon.  We'll cover introductory material in the first session and then build on that in the second session. Please respond to this message if interested and we'll schedules couple of sessions offset from the pool sessions.

The sessions will draw on: Sea Kayak Navigation, by Franco Ferrero, 2007. Pesda Press.  Whether you participate in the sessions or not, I highly recommend this book for anyone venturing out on the water.

Best,

Tim

This is a the video I presented on the RICKA Movie Night, a whirlwind compilation of ALL the RICKA paddles I was on in 2019. One note: this video does not have the music that accompanied the video I presented at Movie Night, because the music is copyrighted, and YouTube does not allow copyrighted music without express permission. Other than that, it is identical to the one I presented at Movie Night.
