Title: Ouellet videos valuable?
Post by: purplesurfcat on May 12, 2018, 09:31:38 AM
Has anyone watched/used Paulo Ouellet’s instructional videos (not the free videos which are really just marketing, i’m talking about the ones you actually have to pay for)? I’m intrigued but can’t tell if they are valuable and I don’t see any reviews on the web (which raises red flags).

Another question is whether they are Greenland-specific or valuable for general paddle skills.

His videos are informative in some aspects for all paddlers but do focus primarily on Greenland paddling, i.e., turns, bracing, sculling, and rolling. You'll see repetitive footage but also see some gems in the mix. Personally, I've learned some things from his videos, but it's not the same as having someone personally teach you and point out what you need to correct. But I could say the same about any video instructional footage, whether about kayaking or any other discipline that requires practice and fine tuning to become truly proficient.
