Title: Salem and Manchester paddles cancelled - Alternative trip for Saturday
Post by: Tim G on October 15, 2014, 07:11:53 PM
Hi Folks,

Sorry to do this, but the forecast conditions for this weekend (3-5 foot swell from Hurricane Gonzalo, low pressure barometric pressure, and SW 10-15 kt wind with gusts to 20 on Saturday and 10-15 with gusts to 25 kt on Sunday) are more than I am comfortable with for leading a trip in an area where I/we do not paddle much.

I do have a proposed alternative trip for the Northshore area on Saturday.  Put in at Gloucester High School and paddle N out of the Annisquam River to the Ipswich Bay and then paddle along the western shore of Cape Ann (sheltered from the SE swell) towards Rockport (Essentially the first half of the route for the Blackburn challenge) - we would be paddling along the shore of Annisquam, Lanesville, and Rockport (likely stopping for lunch at Folly Cove at the furthest and returning along the same route).  The tides in the Annisquam will be cooperating - outgoing in am and incoming in pm.  Please let me know if you'd like to join me on the alternative Saturday trip.

Best,

Tim

Tim,

Sounds like a plan. Cam and I will drive up Saturday. I presume the start time is at 10:00.

All the best, Rich
